Prof. Wilhelm Vossenkuhl

Professor Wilhelm Vossenkuhl (*1945) read philosophy in Munich and Cambridge. He held the chairs of philosophy at Bayreuth University and Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich. His published oeuvre includes works on Ockham, Kant and Wittgenstein. More recently, he published »Die Möglichkeit des Guten« and »Solipsismus und Sprachkritik. Beiträge zu Wittgenstein«. Vossenkuhl held numerous offices in the field of higher education policies such as Senator of the German Research Association DFG, consultant for the political initiative regarding the development of higher education of the German Land Baden-Wuerttemberg as well as member of the governing board of numerous universities. Currently, he is chairman of the governing board of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. With his works »Philosophie für die Westentasche«, »Philosophie. Piper Basics« and the series developed in collaboration with Harald Lesch for the German TV-format BR-Alpha »Denker des Abendlandes« and his series »Die Problemlöser« developed for the German radio channel SWR2, Vossenkuhl aims to engage the public’s interest in philosophical questions.
